World Tour Guide Day, 2017

In Feb. 2016, during the Annual meeting in Leipzig, the members of the Tour Guide Association of Germany (Bundesverband der Gästeführer Deutschlands e.V.) decided that the theme, "Reform, Time for Change" would be the motto for this years World Tour Guide Day in Germany. This theme is perfect for Frankfurt.

Participation on all of the tours is free, but we are asking for a donation that will be given to this charity:

World Tour Guide Day, 2015

"We can really use this!" exclaimed Georgia v. Holtzapfel, who is the coordinator for the Katharinen Church charity that cares for the homeless. "With this donation, we will be able pay for almost an entire brunch." Last weekend, the Association of Frankfurt Tour Guides (Verein Frankfurter Gästeführer) offered a number of free tours for which they asked for donations that would support the Katharinen Church Charity for the Homeless.

"In 2015, we set a new record for donations" declared Dieter Wesp, the chairperson of the Association of Frankfurt Tour Guides as he handed over 926 € to Georgia v. Holzapfel and the Minisiter Gita Leber.

Since 1986, the Katharinen Church has organized "Winter Meals". From January til the beginning of Februrary, the homeless of Frankfurt are offered a free lunch on a daily basis. The "Sunday Brunch "began this year on 15 March. On 9 Sundays, from 11:15-13:30, a complete breakfast is prepared and served. Normally, about 200 guests have been able to enjoy these brunches every time they have taken place. The "Winter Meals" and the "Sunday Brunch" are complety financed with donations.

The Association of Frankfurt Tour Guides regularly offer their time and knowledge for good causes. In the past, their donations went to the Aids-Hilfe Frankfurt and to the Franziskustreff.

World Tour Guide Day, 2014

"We can really put this to good use" said Father Paulus, an imposing man of 110 kg. spread out over 190 cm. The "Association of Frankfurt Tour Guides" was able to donate 807 € on Friday, 4 April, 2014 to the Chef of the Franziskustreff.

The Frankziskustreff, which is located between the Liebfrauen Church and the Kapuziner Cloister, and very near the Zeil, offers the poor and homeless a breakfast every day between 07:45-11:45. Usually, between 150-200 people show up each day. "Around the end of the month, more people will show up" noted Father Paulus checking the list of names. An absolute accurate count is needed to be sure that the food is able to be financed.

The Association of Frankfurt Tour Guides offer free tours every year on World Tour Guide Day, during which they ask the participants to make a donation for a specific charity. This year it was the Franziskus Treff. For Soeren Appuhn, the chairperson of the Association of Frankfurt Tour Guides, the Klosterhof of the Franziskus Treff is a special spot in the city. A small oasis of stillness in the middle of noisy chaos, that he enjoys showing to his tour groups.
